It is believed that years ago Thiruvalayannur Bhattathiri, Kezhottukara Nambuthiri
& Komarathu Menon bought devi from Kancheepuram. Devotees believe that Kodungallur
Bhagavathy is residing in the east gopuram of this temple. Bhagavathy has the command
in the Aarattupuzha Pooram in the month of Meenam.
Navarathri, Thrikkarthika, Deepavali are celibrated. Aarattu in Uthram day of Meenam.
Thrimadhuram, Appam, Koottappam etc are offered by the devotees. Tuesday, Friday,
Karthika are favourable
