In this temple, the deity is in the form of 'Vilwadhreenadha'. its believed that the temple has close relation ship with 'Buddhism' and 'Jainism'. The idol has a height of two feet. In the 'koottala temple', Lord Ayyappa resides outside the temple without a roof.
