The presiding deity in this temple is Lord Ayyappa. This temple is situated in thhr
west side of a pond , very near to 'Marathompalli Mana' . In this temple the deity
is in the form of a child , holding a pot which is made of gems. The place 'Koodappuzha'
was under the control of this mana.
During the 'Arattu' of 'Koodalmanikyam' temple , Lord Bharatha used to visit the
ladies in the mana. Because in ancient times , girls more than twelve years were
not allowed to go to Koodalmanikyam temple.
The subdeities in the Koodappuzha temple are Lord Siva, Lord Vinayaka ,Bhagavathy
,Goddess Durga and 'Sreechakra'.
There is a story about the formation of temple. Actually the idol was created for
installing it in the 'Arattupuzha' temple. But on the way to there, the idol was
brought to 'Marathompalli' mana for showing it to 'Valia Thirumeni'(Oldest person
in this family). When the idol was placed there, it had stucked and could not take
it from there. Thus the temple was created and the idol was installed there.
The temple is also known as 'Makaram Palli Kavu'. Its because that the idol was
installed by a person from 'Makaram Palli ' mana.
The 'Arattu' was celebrated grandly in earlier times.
'Ada Nivedhyam' is the main offering in this temple.
