'Thiyattu' is a special activity of worshipping. People who do 'Thiyattu' ,are called
'Thiyyadis'. There are two types of 'Thiyyadis'. One who do 'Thiyyattu' for Lord
Ayyappa are called 'Thiyyadi Nambiar'. There are 8 'Thiyyadi Nambiar' families.
They are 'Elamkulam', 'Cheruppalassery', 'Mundamuka', 'Mulamkunnathukavu', 'Thayamkavu',
'Irinjalakkuda', 'Malamalkavu', 'Perumpilavu'. Their house is called 'Thiyyadi'.
In the ' Thiyyattu', there will be 'Kalam pooja', 'kalam pattu' and 'Thottampattu'.
In 'Kalam pattu', 'Thiyyadi Nambiar' tells about the story of Lord Ayyappa . The
appearance of 'Thiyyadi Nambiar' is of 'Nandhikeswaran'. The belief is that 'Nandhikeswaran'
tells the story to Lord Ayyappa'. a sword will be there on a table then, which is
considered to be very special.
All the' Thiyyadi Nambiar' families consider the 'Thiyyadikavu' as 'Ayyappan kavu'.
Worshipping the 'Kalam' there, is similar to worshipping Lord Ayyappa in a temple.
Its believed that there is a 'Thiyyadikavu' near 'Mankadapallippuram' in 'Perunthalmanna'
