It is believed that this temple is founded by Sree Sankaracharya swami. Deity is
Swayambhoo. Raktheswaram Siva, Kolanchery Narasimha, Kannenkavu Bhadrakaali, Melekkavu,
Keezhekkavu charyar in a rock are sub deities here. Large number of devotees come
here for whorhipping devi to get rid of diseases and evil spirits.
It is recorded that Udhanda Sastri, Kakkassery Bhattathiri, Melpathur, Poonthanam,
Kodungallur Kunjikuttan Thamburan, Vaidyaratnam Aarkara Raman Namboothiri, Brother
of Kunhan Nambiar and so many others used to worship here.
Navaraathri and Karthika is important here and celebrated.
Tuesday, Friday, Sunday special in this templet. Mandalam period also celebrated.
108 flower chain, Appam, Malar Para, Thrichandanam, Thirumudi Mala are main offerings.
